Daily Gaming Tidbits 05/21/09

  • Fans of the Star Wars Battlefront series got some news today. An ESRB listing showed a new title, Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, for both the DS & the PSP. No word yet if it’s related to the Star Wars Battlefront III  that Free Radical was developing.
  • The less-than-stellar Watchmen: The End is Nigh episodic game will be going retail around the time the movie hits DVD. Look for it to contain both episodes on the disk for the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 version will also have the Director’s Cut of the film.
  • The Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 demo is out now. Go here to queue it up.
  • Sony has been mulling over the idea of a rental service for the PSP for some time now. It isn’t official yet, but if it was to happen, would you use it?
  • The first episode the currently PC-only episodic Wallace & Gromit game is coming to XBLA sometime soon.
  • The Free level cap on The Chronicles of Spellborn has been raised to 9.9. For those not aware, Chronicles is a “freemium” MMO. That means it’s a limited free game. To go beyond the level cap or to access areas other than what you can get to with the free status, you need to pay.
  • There is a massive anti-smoke grenade movement for Gears of War 2 going on right now. Gears celeb Cliffy B had this to say about the matter on the Gears of War 2 forums:
  • "We have the option of disabling the ragdoll concussive effect entirely or replacing it with a brief cringe. We can remove it entirely or simply have "stun free saturdays." We’re going to do a few test days where we see how people feel about the reduction and/or removal and then adjust accordingly.
    Stay tuned.

  • OnLive, the cloud based PC game streaming service will NOT be at E3…
  • Speaking of E3, there will be a “AAA” unannounced title exclusive to the Xbox 360 revealed at E3.
  • WBIE (Warner Bros) has bid $33 million for the almost-dead Midway.
  • According to Curious Gamer, From Software has announced a bunch of PS2 games being ported to the PSP. They are: Armored Core 3 Portable (July 30), Armored Core: Last Raven (March 2010), Armored Core: Silent Line Portable (November), Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (August) and Tenchu: Fatal Shadows (January 2010).
  • My last bit today will be just an image and a word. You tell me what you think:
