Daily Gaming Tidbits 09/14/09

  • Alright, hopefully this first post-PAX edition of Daily Gaming Tidbits marks my return to a normal update schedule. I still have several reviews coming your way (including Wet, which will post later tonight) along with some more PAX previews & interviews that I’ll be posting sometime this week. But, normal updates should be resuming today…
  • The M.A.G. beta is about to begin (9/17). If you’re not in it, go to the 360 Junkies forums, as I have a contest posted there where you can win one of five codes…
  • For those wondering about the Double XP Weekend on 360, for some unknown reason, it never went up. We’re working with MS to correct this.” — This was Tweeted by the Red Faction Guerrilla account. I’m assuming there was some issues this last weekend?…
  • Scribblenautsicon, one of my most anticipates DS titles in a LONG time, launches tomorrow. One of the biggest questions that I had (apparently many others had it as well) is exactly how big is the dictionary in it. Well, looks like that question has been answered: 22,802. Someone seems to have dissected it & posted the full listing here
  • I always think about “what would have been” whenever a developer shuts down. Every once in a while, we get a small peek into what was being developed there after the company disbands, mostly from the laid off employees. GRIN, the guys behind titles like the recent Bionic Commando & Wanted, shuttered it’s doors not long ago & now we can check out some art assets from projects that will not see the light of day. Check em out here
  • Daft Punk has been added to the DJ Heroicon roster (for me, this is one of the most fitting additions to the game). Check out Family Gamer for more info……
  • LucasArts announced their newest title last week. Titled Lucidity, the gameplay is very similar to the classic Lemmings, where the player has to assist a constantly moving female hero get to the end of the stage using a variety of functions like stairs, fans, etc… I’m barely scratching the surface here, but with an October launch planned (the 7th!), I should have more for you soon…
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum is getting a couple of free challenge maps this Thursday. The Insane Night Map Pack will be available for all platforms & will include a combat map (Totally Insane) & a predator map (Nocturnal Hunter). This game has done phenomenally well with the critic (you can see my review here) & the consumers (it’s sold almost 2 million units so far)…
  • Dexter: The Game is now available on the iTunes App Store…
  • I, along with probably 99% of the press out there, have suspected this was coming for awhile now. Rumors have been hitting the net recently, but I’ve neglected to post anything on it until an actual ad image showed up. Kotaku has now provided said image, from Toys-R-Us, showing that the Wii will be getting a price drop within the next couple of weeks. No official announcement has come from Nintendo yet, but with the Tokyo Game Show right around the corner, I suspect it will be coming as the show begins…
