Daily Gaming Tidbits 11/19/09

  • Forza 3 is getting two new DLC packs. The first one, which includes the Rhys Millen Racing Red Bull Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the HKS Genesis Coupe, and a special Forza 3 edition Genesis Coupe, is now available for free to Gold LIVE members. The ssecond pack, dubbed the Hot Holidays Car Pack, will include the Ferrari 458 Italia among other unannounced cars. It’ll be available on December 8th for 400MP. As an added bonus, when the Hot Holidays pack launches, Turn 10 will be offering a free 2010 Audi S4…
  • THQ has launched Star Wars: Trench Run for the iPhone…
  • Activision has added a third studio to the Call of Duty franchise (the first two being Infinity Ward & Treyarch). No word on the name of the studio nor what they will be specifically working on, but I think it’s a safe bet that the the new guys won’t be working on the core rotation. I’m guessing they will be working on mobile platforms or maybe even that rumored MMO…
  • The launch trailer for 3D Dot Game Heroes is up now (see it below). It just oozes with retro-Zelda goodness…
  • Sega’s upcoming Aliens va Predator game has some pre-order incentives now. Pre-order from Gamestop & you’ll get 3 exclusive multiplayer skins: Sgt. Kaneko, Number 6, & Alien Head Predator. Look for it to ship this February…
  • It came out today that Sony plans to make the Playstation 3 capable of playing 3D games by the end of 2010. Before everyone gets excited, don’t forget, you have to have a 3D enabled game, console and TV…
  • Sony also revealed they are interested in adding a subscription-based service in addition to their free Playstation Network. Obviously Premium content would be the focus. I’m just curious what they could add to make it worth the cost without taking away for the existing free service…
  • Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment has picked up the film rights to Dark Void. Too soon? The game hasn’t even proven to be successful yet (because it hasn’t been released yet) let alone proven there’s a market for a film adaption. Not that I’m knocking it. Just curious how you all feel about it…
  • The final chapter of Tales of Monkey Island (this will be #8 for those who lost track) will launch on December 8th with the moniker Rise of the Pirate God
