The Larian Studios sequel to the formerly PC only Divinity franchise has gone gold. Series veterans will note that there have been a few changes made to the formula. This time around, it’s more action oriented & it’s making it’s debut on the consoles (exclusively on the Xbox 360). The story will return us to the land of Rivellon & put the player into the role of a member of the Order of the Dragon Slayers, whom are at war with the Dragon Knights. A dying Knight grants his power to you & with it, the ability to change into a Dragon at will. Now, as someone who is tied to both sides, it will be left up to you to seek out the true enemy, the Black Ring. The plot certainly leaves a lot of open role play possibilities. The gameplay trailer below will give you a feel for the action along with the inventory system & the shape-shifting ability the main character has. The title is already available in the UK & the reviews I’ve seen have been very positive, scoring it in the high 80’s/B+ range. I should have a review for you in the coming weeks as well.
Also, with the January launch of Divinity II: Ego Draconis creeping up on us, the pre-order incentive through Gamestop is in full swing. Through the promotion, players will be able to nab a couple of in-game goodies:
These in-game items are from a select lodge of elite Dragon Slayers who have earned the highest of distinctions on the battlefield. Their elite armor and weapon set includes:
• Blood Echelon Armor – Sturdy as granite and shaped to intimidate, Blood Echelon armors set new standards in the art of war.
• Blood Echelon Weapon – The Claymore, the Frontline Slayers’ mighty weapon of choice, cleaves armor like it was mere flesh.
Look for this one to hit store shelves on January 5th for the PC & Xbox 360…
