Daily Gaming Tidbits 01/06/10

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so I’m going to cover some stuff that’s come out over the last few days. Thus, some of this you may have seen already…

  • Look for Fallout: New Vegas to grace the cover of next month’s Official Xbox Magazine. Hopefully in addition to the new info, we’ll get a solid release date & some new screens to boot…

  • The demo for Capcom’s upcoming Dark Void hit the XBLM today & will hit the PSN tomorrow…
  • NinjaBee’s next title will involve…Avatars! Who could have guessed? Anyway, they have yet to make the official announcement (that’s coming later this month), but they are dropping hints including a couple of pieces of concept art. Check them out:

  • So EA recently announced that the old school arcade B-Baller NBA Jam will be resurfacing as a Wii exclusive. First, I’m thrilled to see it return, as NBA Jam ranks up there with Tecmo Bowl as far as nostalgic sports experiences are concerned. Second, in today’s multiplatform age, & considering the retro nature of the title, I can’t see it staying exclusive to the Wii. EA doesn’t like to limit their potential consumer base…
  • Memorex, a company best known for their cassette tapes (Is it real, or is it Memorex?) is now jumping into the game peripheral business. Why? Well, when was the last time you’ve seen a Memorex commercial? Exactly. The brand has declined a bit since the cassette format died 15 years ago. They plan to target the Wii & the DS with a whole slew of different things from WiiMote chargers to DSi protective cases. I would break it all down for you here, but really, Joystiq did a much better job. So, do you think they bring enough muscle to take on the behemoth that is Mad Catz?…
  • The cover for Gran Turismo 5 have been revealed today (yes, that’s the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG)…

  • This month’s episode of Qore will feature Heavy Rain, Dante’s Inferno & BioShock 2. Look for it to become available tomorrow…
  • EA has teamed up with Dr Pepper to bring you some exclusive DLC for some of their titles including Mass Effect 2, Battlefield Heroes, The Sims 3, Spore, & Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I haven’t seen any of the bottles yet, but it’s said that every bottle will be a winner. Look for game pieces from 7/11, on fountain cups & on 20/16/14 oz bottles…
  • The tongue-in-cheek downloadable game, Matt Hazard: Blood, Bath & Beyond is available on XBLA now & will hit the Playstation Network tomorrow…
  • Sony earned my “WTF” moment of the day. They announced a new Playstation 3 bundle. You’ll never guess what it’s bundled with. No really, go ahead & try…………………..done? Ok, you’re wrong. In this new, ¥33,500 (or $366) bundle, it’ll come with a 120G console & all the applicable components plus a copy of the Michael Jackson post humus concert documentary, This Is It. No, I’m not messing with you & yeah, I’m serious. Don’t believe me? Check out the box art…

  • Playstation 3 Rock Band 2 players are getting an update that will add wireless Sing Star mic support among other things. Check out PSBlog for all the details…
  • The official site for Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei®: Strange Journey™ for the Nintendo DS is now live…
  • Look for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney to hit WiiWare on Monday. It’ll set you back 1000 WP…
  • The Wii Vitality Sensor (who’s announcement was probably the biggest WTF moment of E309) should hit retail shelves this summer. I’m going to assum it will be for the Wii Fit crowd, as I can’t think of any gaming applications that don’t involve some kind of AO rated interaction…
  • In case anyone missed it, Divinity II: Ego Draconis launched yesterday. I should have a review coming soon…
  • Atlus will be bringing Metal Slug XX to the PSP on Feb 23rd for $20…
  • EA has reaffirmed their support for Tiger Woods, citing his personal life doesn’t diminish his achievements on the course…
  • Bioware/EA announced the first expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins. Dubbed Awakenings, it had better be a very beefy content pack since it carries a $40 price point. Features include a higher level cap, stat readjustment options, new spells, abilities, & 5 new party members. The story will take players to the land of Amaranthine where they will seek out the secrets & motivations of the darkspawn…
