Daily Gaming Tidbits 02/08/10

  • Apparently gamers who haven’t been able to upgrade to an HD display are have been having trouble reading the many lines of text in the recently launched Mass Effect 2. There’s even a thread about it in the official forums. Bioware’s response? Well, according to Mass Effect Project Manager Michael Gamble, “it was a byproduct of enhancements to the user interface” & they can’t address it with a patch, but will keep it in mind for their future Mass Effect titles. I wonder what they’ve done differently since this isn’t the first time this issue has cropped up in gaming. Rare had the same issue with Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, but they were able to fix it…
  • Sega announced their original IP Bayonetta has sold over 1 million units & the mascot collaboration Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games has sold over 5.5 million units between the Wii & the DS. To be honest, I had no idea that the Mario/Sonic title would have done so well…
  • Looking forward to the next UFC title? Then grab your pen & mark May 25th on your calendar. (Is that old school? Should I have said “open your calendar or appointment app”?) Wanna see what the cover looks like? Check it out…

  • Speaking of Mixed Martial Arts, Dan Henderson let it be known through his Twitter account that he will be joining EA’s MMA title, not THQ’s UFC 2010 Undisputed
  • The demo for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This is the one that features one of Rare’s mascots, Banjo & Kazooie…
  • According to gaming journalist & GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighley, LA Noir should be arriving on Xbox 360 & Playstation 3 in September…
  • The mash-up that The Who performed during the Super Bowl half time show is now available for Rock Band on the Xbox 360. The Wii version should also be available now with the Playstation 3 version coming soon (read: probably later this week)…
  • Look for a Madden game to arrive on FaceBook at some point…
  • Phoenix Wright fans will be happy to see Phoenix Wright™ Ace Attorney™: JUSTICE FOR ALL arriving on WiiWare next Monday (Feb 15th)…
  • The Xbox 360 120GB HD has been discontinued in the US. Prices have been reduced to clear out the remaining stock, so if you don’t want to wait (& pay the high costs) for the 250GB HD, then now would be a good time to do some shopping…
  • United Front Games will be bringing ModNation Racers to the PSP at the same time as the Playstation 3 version…
  • As confirmed by THQ’s earnings forecast, look for a 4th Red Faction, a 3rd Saint’s Row, & a 2nd Darksiders to hit retail shelves sometime during their next fiscal calendar (ending March 31st, 2011)…
