Xbox Will No Longer Be LIVE

While I’m a little late posting this, it’s still relevant judging from the reactions I’ve seen all over the net. At the end of last week, Xbox LIVE General Manager Marc Whitton announced that they will no longer be offering their LIVE service for the original Xbox as of April 15th, 2010. This includes all the original Xbox games that are currently playable on the Xbox 360. Initially, I didn’t think that this would make that much of a difference, as after 4 years, I would think everyone had pretty much moved on from the old console & jumped into the 360 universe. While I don’t know the exact numbers, I can say that those who still play the original Xbox games on LIVE are much more vocal than I had thought they would be. So this led me to ask the question to you: Will this discontinuation affect you? I’m curious to see how many folks are still playing the older games like Halo 2 by choice & how many folks have to because they’ve yet to upgrade to the current console. For me, I’m happy. Support for the older Xbox LIVE accounts is one of the main reasons our current friend’s lists have been limited to 100. Hopefully they’ll raise that cap once this is done…
