Playstation Store Refresh 02/25/10

Playstation Store Refresh 02/25/10
So lets take a look at what kinds of fresh baked gaming goodness Sony cooked up for us this week. First, Warhawk got a temporary price reduction. I know, it’s a pretty old game, but the gamers I talk to who play it still sing it’s praises, so for $15, it’s worth a shot. The God of War III demo is now available to the masses. Remember, it was previously only available to those who picked up the God of War Collection & just recently, subscribers to Sony’s Qore digital mag. Speaking of demos, THQ released one for Darksiders. It’s probably one of the most overlooked...

MLB 2K10 Shows Us Some ‘Stats & Splits’
As we enter the 7th inning stretch, the marketing blitz for MLB 2K10 is kicking into high gear. The demo released this week with the full title launching on March 2nd, so here’s a new trailer giving you a better idea of how robust the stat tracking is… Bookmark It Hide Sites

W!Games Is A ‘Greed’y ‘Corp’oration

W!Games Is A ‘Greed’y ‘Corp’oration
Alright, I was probably reaching way down in the bottom of the cheese bag for that title. But seriously, W!Games has been hyping Greed Corp for some time now so seeing it finally launch (& there-by giving me a chance to play it) is something I wanted to bring to your attention. The Xbox LIVE Arcade & Playstation Network title is a turn-based strategy game based on the Mistbound universe. The single player features 4 factions, 24 maps, & over 10 hours of gameplay while the multiplayer will pit you against up to 3 other people (for a total of 4) in local, online, or bot-controlled action...

Zero Punctuation: Dante’s Inferno

Zero Punctuation: Dante’s Inferno
I don’t know if I should be surprised or happy. I was not privy to a review copy of Dante’s Inferno, but after some time with the demo, I had some ideas of what it would be once I finally had the funds to grab a copy for a proper review. Yahtzee’s impressions of the retail game are almost identical to my impressions of the demo. Although, “hairy buns” would be the one exception… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Disney Guilty Party Trailer

Disney Guilty Party Trailer
As announced yesterday at Nintendo’s Media Summit, Disney Interactive Studios & Wideload Games are teaming up to bring a family-friendly detective party game to the Wii. I showed you the first screen & the logo, but Joystiq one-upped me & put the trailer up that they saw at the Summit. So I figured I’d embed here for you below. Hit me up in the comments & let em know what you think. Personally, I’m liking what I’m seeing… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Nintendo’s Media Summit Wrap-Up

Nintendo’s Media Summit Wrap-Up
Nintendo held their Q1 2010 Media Summit this morning. It was chalk full of goodies that typically could fill an entire year for them. The kicker? Everything shown was only for the 1st half of 2010 (except for GhostWire). That’s right, everything you see will be released before the end of June. Anything beyond that point will be covered during Nintendo’s E3 press event. The Summit was held at the W Hotel in San Francisco & began promptly at 9am PST. They opened things up with the normal number graphs & charts, but cited they didn’t want to focus on that & quickly moved...

Trailer: General Knoxx

Trailer: General Knoxx
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is the 3rd piece of DLC for Gearbox’s hit RPS, Borderlands. The biggest of the 3 updates, it’ll add new loot, vehicles, & enemies to the already full-bodied title. But the best part is the level cap increase, allowing players to go beyond the current cap of 50. My Borderlands review will go live in a few days & I should have a review covering all 3 DLC packs next week. You can queue up General Knoxx for your Xbox 360 here. Playstation 3 players will have access to it later this week as apart of the normal Playstation Store update (PC players...

What? No Virtual Console releases? *sigh* Well, at least we will get some interesting WiiWare titles this week. GhostSlayer sounds like it could be fun, especially if you have a Wii Motion Plus (check out the trailer below). Mouse House catches my eye just from the “pick up & play” element they’re pushing. With how hectic today’s schedules can get, it’s nice to have games that don’t require a huge time investment… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Rapture City Counsel Approves Expansion

Rapture City Counsel Approves Expansion
2K Games announced new expansion plans for BioShock 2 today. As will all high profile releases these days, Rapture’s return to our consoles will have “extensive downloadable content” according to the latest press release from 2K. The first (of several) will be the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack. It will add 5 new masks, a 3rd upgrade for each weapon, 20 new trials, two new playable characters (Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca) & the level cap will be raised to 50. The Sinclair Solutions Test Pack is expected to hit both platforms next month for 400 MP or $5. Addition plans for...

Playstation Store Refresh 02/18/10
Yeah, I don’t have a lot to say here. Not terribly impressed with any of it. Sure, there’s some decent sales & the first episode of The Tester is now available (Meh!) along with some DLC for Assassin’s Creed II & Resident Evil 5, but that’s about it. Hopefully next week brings some better goodies… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Rock Band Restock 02/23-02/25

Rock Band Restock 02/23-02/25
Next week, MTV Games & the Harmonix crew will be bringing a couple of tracks from the Finnish band H.I.M. For the uninitiated, His Infernal Majesty (H.I.M.) has had most of their success overseas. But, they did have their breakout hit here in the ‘States called Wings of a Butterfly back in 2005. Look for that track pack along with singles from Marilyn Manson & The Police… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Midway Leaves The Marketplace

Midway Leaves The Marketplace
Got a hankering for some old school Smash TV action on your Xbox 360? Well, hopefully you picked it up already as it’s no longer available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. In fact, there’s a handful of Midway arcade titles that are now MIA including Cyberball, Defender, Paperboy, Root Beer Tapper, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Robotron 2084, Joust, & Gauntlet. Remember when Midway’s financial difficulties became headlines & Warner Bros picked up the majority of Midway’s properties? Well, this is the fallout from that. As licenses change hands, old contracts become null...

Red Dead Redemption Obey’s ‘The Law’

Red Dead Redemption Obey’s ‘The Law’
When one lists the games they are most looking forward to in 2010, it’s easy to forget about Rockstar’s western opus, Red Dead Redemption. The Red Dead Revolver sequel looks like it will be what I had hoped Gun would have been back in 2005. Basically, it’s what the offspring would be if Grand Theft Auto & the Man With No Name trilogy of spaghetti western films were to mate. Here’s the latest trailer for you below… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Left 4 Dead Tidbits

Left 4 Dead Tidbits
Due to a fortunate trip to Rapture (the review will be coming soon), I missed a lot of news that broke last week. So, over the next couple of posts, I’ll try to bring everyone up to speed. First on the hit list is the Left 4 Dead franchise. We all know about The Passing, a new campaign heading to Left 4 Dead 2 next month. It plans to introduce the original four survivors from the first game (Zoey, Bill, Francis, & Louis) to the four from the sequel (Nick, Ellis, Rochelle, & Coach), set between Dead Center & Dark Carnival. But, there’s still holes in the story so Valve has...

Are You The Next ‘God Of War’?

Are You The Next ‘God Of War’?
*sigh* Really, the whole reality show thing is okay sometimes, if anything to appease the inner voyeur in all of us. But seriously, it’s becoming the dirge of television. What? Can’t exploit a media property anymore? I know, lets make a reality show!! Bah! Drives me nuts. Anyway, Sony is at it again, this time partnering up with Spike TV & featuring everyone’s favorite pissed off warrior, Kratos. Poised to promo the game, it sounds like it will be a single episode set to air the night before the March 16th launch (so does it really qualify as a reality show or a glorified...

So there it is. Phoenix Wright is finally taking WiiWare to trial. Believe it or not, I’ve never played a single Phoenix Wright game. Stop. Don’t say it. I’ve already been told I’m missing out. I just have a tough time investing in handheld titles since I honestly don’t have enough time to play them. Maybe the WiiWare version will change that. Also debuting this week is Sonic & Knuckles on the Virtual Console. While it wasn’t a bad game, by the time it came out back in 1994, my love of platformers was fading as it was & Sonic & Knuckles didn’t...

Zero Punctuation: Borderlands

Zero Punctuation: Borderlands
Looks like Yahtzee didn’t really care for Borderlands. While most of his points are valid (like the interface issue), I can’t say I would be as harsh on it as he was. Hopefully I get my review written soon so you can see my thoughts… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Microsoft Throws A Block Party

Microsoft Throws A Block Party
A lot of you know that I’m a big fan of Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade program. In fact, I’ve been wanting Microsoft to do more events like that throughout the year, as I think it’ll draw more attention to the service & spotlight some really good titles. Now, it looks like the folks in Redmond have been listening as they’re planning a Summer of Arcade-esq event for March dubbed Block Party. It’s basically the same thing as the SoA, except in the spring. Below are the four titles that will be featured including pricing, release date & some screenies. So...
