What a great week for Nintendo downloadable releases! Not only do we get to finally get our hands on PressPlay’s Max & the Magic Marker, a game I’ve been following for some time & just can’t wait to get some more playtime with it (I should have a review for you guys soonish), but we also get Final Fantasy II for the Virtual Console! Seriously, this is one of those releases that make me giddy like a school boy as the combination of Final Fantasy I & II plus the first three Dragon Warrior games (i.e. Dragon Quest) were the catalyst that caused me to move beyond simple...

I have a question for you: With the 3rd Episode of The Tester coming out this week, how many of you are watching the series? Just curious about what you think of it. Anyway, on to something better: Penny Arcade Adventures! Both Episode 1 & Episode 2 are now in a $15 bundle. That’s a great price so if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, then this is the perfect way to do so. Beyond that, it’s all about the stuff you already know. Demos for Just Cause 2, MLB 2K10, & MotoGP 09/10 & add-ons for Resident Evil 5, Dante’s Inferno & MLB 10: The Show… Bookmark...

Your Sims Are Feeling A Bit Ambitious

Your Sims Are Feeling A Bit Ambitious
Just 3 1/2 months after EA sent your Sims on their World Adventures, they now want to help cultivate your Sims ambitions. As announced this morning, a new expansion pack for the sales-chart champion The Sims 3 dubbed Ambitions will be heading your way this June. The intent for this pack is to make your Sims job have a bit more meaning to you. For example, you may gain neighborhood acclaim if you are a fireman & save a child from a burning building. Or, maybe you want to be an architect & make an impact on how the town looks. Each new job allows for the player to have more direct control...

Lara Croft Not Raiding Tombs?

Lara Croft Not Raiding Tombs?
This morning, Eidos & Crystal Dynamics announced a new adventure featuring everyone’s favorite spelunking heroine, Lara Croft. Unfortunately, that’s all they did. No details beyond the fact that it’s planned to be released digitally sometime in 2010 & it would be shown behind closed doors at GDC (not even a list of platforms it’ll release on). One change you will notice is in the game’s title: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The Tomb Raider franchise has been re-surging lately with the new coat of paint & improved play mechanics over the last 2 titles....

Xbox 360 LIVE Usage: Week Of 2/22

Xbox 360 LIVE Usage: Week Of 2/22
Straight from the mouth (or fingers as the case may be) of Major Nelson, here’s the latest LIVE usage details. Nothing on the full retail list elicits any sort of surprise reaction from me, but I am happy to see how effective the Deal of the Week is in pushing Arcade titles. Duke Nukem 3D is just the latest in a long line of XBLA games that haven’t really been looked at in a while, yet now all of a sudden is the number one title. As long as gamers keep up the support, this program will continue to exist, bringing us a bit more value for our points… Bookmark It Hide...

Tecmo Bowl To Evolve With ‘Throwback’

Tecmo Bowl To Evolve With ‘Throwback’
If you check out my list of games that I’ve played, you’ll be hard pressed to find any sports titles on there. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy most sports & their gaming counterparts, although I may not be as much of a fan as your average male. It’s just been a combination of a lot of really good games in other genres & my total irritation at the thought that, in order to stay current, I would have to buy a new title each year. It’s even more of an issue this generation when online connectivity & downloadable content is the standard. Why make me pay $60 a...

Just Cause Tests It’s Parachute This Week

Just Cause Tests It’s Parachute This Week
The sequel for the 2006 revolution-instigating, parachute-wielding Just Cause will have a demo released this week. If you remember, the original game took place in the fictional Caribbean island called San Esperito & followed the exploits of Rico Rodriguez, a CIA black-ops agent tasked with starting a revolution to have dictator Salvador Mendoza overthrown. For Just Cause 2, the premise will stay fairly the same, seeing Rico travel to Southeast Asia to the island of Panau to overthrow the dictator Baby Panay & also have a face off with his former boss, Tom Sheldon. The whole game is said...

Let the old school gaming begin! Leading the pack of downloadable titles from Nintendo is Mega Man 10, a game that takes the long-popular mechanical hero back to his 8-bit roots. Including the classic 2D  NES gameplay & brutal difficulty, the developers have worked hard to create a new experience built around the old school play mechanics. Does the difficulty turn you off? New in this chapter is an Easy Mode, so everyone can enjoy the story without the classic frustration. Speaking of classics, the early 1990’s NEO GEO fighter Fatal Fury Special arrives on the Virtual Console. This was...

Playstation Store Refresh 02/25/10

Playstation Store Refresh 02/25/10
So lets take a look at what kinds of fresh baked gaming goodness Sony cooked up for us this week. First, Warhawk got a temporary price reduction. I know, it’s a pretty old game, but the gamers I talk to who play it still sing it’s praises, so for $15, it’s worth a shot. The God of War III demo is now available to the masses. Remember, it was previously only available to those who picked up the God of War Collection & just recently, subscribers to Sony’s Qore digital mag. Speaking of demos, THQ released one for Darksiders. It’s probably one of the most overlooked...
