Xbox LIVE Marketplace: 01/26-02/04
Major Nelson was kind enough to post this earlier today. Notable items include Splosion Man, which will be next week’s Deal of the Week, reduced down to 400 MP.It’s a fantastic platformer (I gave it a 9 out of 10) that everyone should have so at 400 MP, there really is no reason not to pick it up. Also, Assassin’s Creed II is getting it’s first DLC pack on Thursday, Jan 28th along with the release of the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack 2 (remember, that was the one that came for free in copies of ODST). The Assassin’s Creed II DLC will run you 320 MP while the Halo 3 map pack...

Microsoft’s Games on Demand service is adding Halo Wars ($29.99) & Dead Rising ($19.99) today… Remember the “exclusive” content that the Playstation 3 Divine Edition of Dante’s Inferno will have in it? Well, it won’t be exclusive in the strictest sense of the word. The Dark Forest DLC will be coming to the Xbox 360, for free, just like the Playstation 3 version. It just won’t be at launch… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Batman Arkham Asylum 2 is already available for pre-order through Amazon. No new info to be found & the cover art used is the crumbling Batman logo from the trailer (it’s safe to say that’s not the final cover art)… Look for the PC beta for Command & Conquer 4 to go public very soon… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Upcoming Xbox LIVE Marketplace Releases

Upcoming Xbox LIVE Marketplace Releases
Looks like Microsoft is attempting to shift their announce schedule a bit. Typically, we find out what’s coming up at the beginning of each week, a lot of times on that Sunday via Major Nelson’s podcast. But just as we saw with December, Mr Hyrb has posted the next few week’s releases in one big chunk. He says they are shooting for an ongoing bi-monthly announcement similar to this one. Personally, I’m happy with this direction as it’s much more helpful for those who need to budget out their points if they have a basic idea on what’s coming soon to the Marketplace. ...

REMINDER: Hungering for a taste of Final Fantasy XIII? Square Enix is giving gamers an early sample with a Final Fantasy XIII bus tour. Oddly though, it’ll only be touring the San Francisco & surrounding Bay Area. Not much of a tour, but if you live in that region & want to check it out, the tour kicks off tomorrow. 2009’s Top Games On Xbox LIVE

2009’s Top Games On Xbox LIVE
It’s been an interesting year to say the least. That’s “interesting” in a good way. 2009 brought a virtual ton of fantastic gaming experiences & 2010 doesn’t look to be much different. One of the key components of today’s gaming culture is online play, be it through competitive or cooperative multiplay or downloadable games. The folks at Microsoft dutifully tracks all the playtime on their Xbox LIVE service & posts it through Major Nelson’s Blog each week. We now have a tally of how the entire year stacked up. I can’t say I’m super surprised...

Crayon Physics is a small indie PC title that really deserves your attention. It’s a brilliant puzzler that will tax your brain, regardless of the kindergarten-esq visuals the crayons provide. The good folks at Kloonigames are celebrating the title’s 1st birthday by doing a “pay what you want” sale. That’s right, just head over here & pay any amount you feel is appropriate using PayPal. You can undercut them & only pay a penny, but seriously, this one is worth much more than that (regular price is $19.95). The sale is ongoing until Jan 15th, so you only have...

Microsoft CES 2010 Keynote

Microsoft CES 2010 Keynote
Most of you reading this already know what CES is. In case your one of the few that doesn’t, it’s the Consumer Electronics Show. Think E3, but it’s open to the public & covers the entire electronic/tech industry. From the latest in TVs to MP3 players, from laptops to GPS devices, this show will give you something to ogle over, no matter what your techie tastes crave. Of course since two of the big three console manufacturers have their hands elbow deep in other tech beyond gaming (Microsoft, the biggest software developer in the world & Sony…….hmmm…..is...

Best of 2009

Best of 2009
So, now that 2009 is coming to a close, it’s time for me to pick my favorite titles released over the last 12 months. Keep in mind that these are my personal picks. Although I did take into consideration things like sales figures, public opinion & feedback from friends & colleagues, the final decision’s primary factor was my personal experiences with each game. There, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I have to say that this was over all a very solid year for gaming in general. There have been many years in the past where I found myself having to go back & replay...

Spike 2009 VGA Recap

Spike 2009 VGA Recap
Ever since 2003, Spike TV has had their annual awards show honoring the best the video game industry has to offer. At the beginning, it was terrible. I remember watching the first show & it seemed more like a huge marketing campaign than an show honoring the best the industry has to offer. But over the years, Spike has honed their event toward a more respectable level. Although this year still held some pandering & over-marketing, it was still far better than their first one. So below are my thoughts on the show & the trailers (which are posted below the coverage)… Bookmark It Hide...

Xbox LIVE Usage: Week Of 11/23

Xbox LIVE Usage: Week Of 11/23
Looks like the entire list has been refreshed for the most part. The Gears of War franchise has completely disappeared. Unsurprisingly, Modern Warfare 2 is reigning supreme & I don’t expect it to be toppled anytime soon (most likely not until the next holiday season). In fact, the Call of Duty series has 3 titles in the top ten. The other 2 hot franchises this month are there as well (Assassin’s Creed II & Left 4 Dead 2) rounding out the big changes to the retail list. But, the Arcade list has had some movement too. Trials HD lost it’s dominant position, being dethroned...
