Yeah, it’s been a few days since any updates. With my little one being off from school yesterday, it’s tough finding the time to sit here & work on the site. So I opted to put things aside & just spend some time with her (& do a little gaming). Now she’s back in school so let the writing begin! Bookmark It Hide Sites

Crayon Physics is a small indie PC title that really deserves your attention. It’s a brilliant puzzler that will tax your brain, regardless of the kindergarten-esq visuals the crayons provide. The good folks at Kloonigames are celebrating the title’s 1st birthday by doing a “pay what you want” sale. That’s right, just head over here & pay any amount you feel is appropriate using PayPal. You can undercut them & only pay a penny, but seriously, this one is worth much more than that (regular price is $19.95). The sale is ongoing until Jan 15th, so you only have...

Now, I was one of the few folks I knew back then that never got into the whole Pilotwings phenomenon. Even though it impressed with displaying the technical abilities of the N64, that was pretty much where it stopped for me. With that said, I may go back & give it a shot now that it’s been re-released on the Virtual Console. That will be after I grab what really has my eye: Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth. This remake of the GameBoy original has classic Dracula hunting love written all over it; perfect considering the dredge of titles the franchise has cranked out recently (I’m...

Nintendo has given us the gift that will keep on giving this week, albeit a gift we have to buy for ourselves. Yep, we can now relive our neighborhood brawls just like they were as children. No, I don’t mean go grab your old baseball bat. These are gamers, remember? The N64 fan favorite Super Smash Bros has now become available again by way of the Virtual Console. They didn’t forget about us older gamers who were adults by the time the N64 went retail, as the arcade original Ninja Gaiden is also available (yes, I played the original in the arcades). The DSi has a couple that caught...

Dragon Age: Origins Avatar items have been added to the Xbox 360 Avatar Marketplace… In case anyone missed it, the demo for Army of Two: The 40th Day should be available right now on both Xbox 360 & Playstation 3. Keep in mind that it’s co-op only (online private, online public, & local split-screen). No single player… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Holiday Gift Guide – The Best Of The Rest

Holiday Gift Guide – The Best Of The Rest
While I had hoped to have several more genre categories, due to time constraints, I’m going to have to combine everything. I’m just a one man show here, so it can be tough to initiate all pieces that I want to see on the site. But, there are a bunch of other games that didn’t make the other guides that should be considered. So here is the best of the rest (20 in total). Look for one more guide by the end of the week (most likely on Saturday) that will cover hardware & other gaming related items. Also look for my Best of 2009 picks sometime in the next 14 days or so along with...

Holiday Gift Guide – Music Games

Holiday Gift Guide – Music Games
By far the ultimate in-person social experience, the music gaming genre has grown over the years from a nitch novelty to a full blown category. Credit Guitar Hero for taking it to the next level. Now, we have so many different titles that it can be tough to decide which one to get. Hopefully this guide will help resolve that for you. Keep in mind that this guide will be focused on the stand-alone software only. So if the gamer on your list doesn’t have the instrument controllers, be sure to look for the various package out there that will provide the both the instruments & the games....

An exciting week for classics on the Virtual Console! First, a game I have many, many fond memories of: Blaster Master. Although they tried the resurrect the franchise on the first Playstation, nothing has been able to bring back the joy I had sitting there on a Saturday afternoon, munching on Cheez-its & trying to live long enough to finish it. Second, the annelid icon, Earthworm Jim 2 is now available. The Earthworm franchise was some of the funniest games on the Sega’s Genesis console & in fact the first title is currently getting a modern day refresh (hopefully it’ll launch...

Look for a Pirates of the Caribbean themed costume pack for Little Big Planet soon… Sam Fisher will be returning to Third Echelon in Splinter Cell: Conviction, although it’s not how you may think. According the the trailer below, players will find out what it’s like to be the hunted, to be one of the NPC’s that Sam has taken down over the years… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Spike 2009 VGA Recap

Spike 2009 VGA Recap
Ever since 2003, Spike TV has had their annual awards show honoring the best the video game industry has to offer. At the beginning, it was terrible. I remember watching the first show & it seemed more like a huge marketing campaign than an show honoring the best the industry has to offer. But over the years, Spike has honed their event toward a more respectable level. Although this year still held some pandering & over-marketing, it was still far better than their first one. So below are my thoughts on the show & the trailers (which are posted below the coverage)… Bookmark It Hide...

Lego Harry Potter Conjures A Trailer

Lego Harry Potter Conjures A Trailer
There hasn’t been a single Lego-adaption game that I wasn’t hyped about. Star Wars, Batman, Indy & now Harry Potter. I don’t know what it is about them because to be honest, the gameplay gets a bit bland after awhile. It’s probably just a concoction of nostalgic Lego fandom with a dash of my love of the various properties blended together in a cauldron with a bit of Dragon Dung, boiled until it turns a rather violent brown color. Ok, yeah, I was probably reaching for that one. Regardless of how I say it, I’m really excited for this one & judging from the trailer,...

Wow, this last week flew by! Seems like I just did last week’s update yesterday. Anyway, this week brings the original Rayman to DSiWare. Great series of games the eventually spun off into the Rabbids franchise. Speaking of originals, the Virtual Console is now playing host to Street Fighter 2 Alpha & Shinobi, one of my favorite arcade games as a kid. Not much more to speak of this week, even though I would love to check out Army Defender & MAGNETIS one of these days… Bookmark It Hide Sites

TNA Crosses The Portable Line

TNA Crosses The Portable Line
SouthPeak announced yesterday they would be bringing TNA IMPACT: Cross The Line to the DS & Playstation Portable later this winter. No more details were given, but it’s safe to assume that all the major players will be ther including names like Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle & AJ Styles. I’m curious how current it will be with the recent announcement of Hulk Hogan’s partnership with the brand. We may see the Hulkster thrown in the mic. Maybe a 6 Sides of Steel match between Hulk & Bobby Lashley? What match would you like to have in the game? Bookmark It Hide...

Since I don’t have a DSi & subsequently can’t play the DSiWare games, I tend to reserve my opinions on them. But, this week brings a game that I’ve played on other platforms so for the first time, I’m excited for a DSiWare title. Bookworm is just plain fun & as a by-product, I actually end up learning stuff too. It’s a great game for all ages, so at only $5, I highly recommend grabbing it for all the DSi players in your home. Also, WiiWare brings in Chapter 4 of the fantastic Tales of Monkey Island series. Now would be a good time to get caught up as the final...
