Needlemouse + XBLA/PSN/WW = Sonic 4

Needlemouse + XBLA/PSN/WW = Sonic 4
When we first got wind of Project Needlemouse, there was a mix of joy & trepidation. Joy at the return of the iconic speedster & trepidation because of the long time struggle Sega has had getting the spiny mammal to be successful since it’s 16 bit days. Today, Sega finally showed it’s hand, & I must say, I think they’ve been dealt full house. One of the biggest complaints have been that they seem to miss re-creating the magic that Sonic had back on the Genesis. So, Sega seems to have finally taken that to heart & is creating Sonic 4. No were-hogs, no RPG elements...

Sega Shows Us Their War Machine

Sega Shows Us Their War Machine
Iron Man 2 is set to hit theaters in couple of months & along with that will be the game adaption. We haven’t seen much of it so far, but today Sega released a new trailer introducing us to War Machine. Rhody, Tony Stark’s best friend (whom we saw in the first film) is the man behind the machine who provides some much needed assistance to our tin hero. But, after checking out the trailer below, I can’t help but feel a little concern. Is it just me or does it look like it’s plagued with a “more of the same” sickness? The first game was okay, but forgettable....

Lego Harry Potter Year 2 Screens & Vignette

Lego Harry Potter Year 2 Screens & Vignette
I’m kiind of schizophrenic when it comes to the Lego games. While I’m really into the general idea & so far, I have enjoyed what little bit I’ve played of them, there’s still just something about them that pushes me away. It seems like every time I sit down to play one, my session may last an hour at best. Then, I just get distracted & won’t pick it up again for weeks (sometimes months). I still can’t figure out what it is that I makes me lose interest. As a fan of the Harry Potter books (especially before the entire planet went bat-shit crazy over them),...

This week, it’s all about the WiiWare! While Alex Kidd was alright at the time it came out, for me, it didn’t age well. So I’m not terribly interested in that sole Virtual Console release. But, WiiWare on the other hand, not only has the final chapter in the Tales of Monkey Island series (Chapter 5 wraps up the latest adventure of Guybrush Threepwood), but it also has the sequel to my favorite Zuma clone of all time. I spent a ton of hours playing Tumblebugs on both MAC & PC (my ex-wife actually turned me on to it through her MAC laptop). Although it’s certainly a lot...

Slow news day. I’m assuming it’s because everyone is busy playing Mass Effect 2 or getting hyped about the Apple announcement today… You can pick up Psychonauts on Steam for $2 until tomorrow. No, that’s not a typo… Look for Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise to make it’s way to the Xbox 360 this summer… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Batman Arkham Asylum 2 is already available for pre-order through Amazon. No new info to be found & the cover art used is the crumbling Batman logo from the trailer (it’s safe to say that’s not the final cover art)… Look for the PC beta for Command & Conquer 4 to go public very soon… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Isn’t there already an Uno game on the Wii? I mean, Uno is pretty much everywhere these days. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Uno gameshow on Fox or NBC next fall. For the three of you who are upset that you don’t have Uno on your Wii, today is your lucky day as the seminal card game is making it’s way onto WiiWare. In addition to that, bittos+ is launching today. It’s a puzzle game that I’ve been watching for a few months now & so far, I just can’t get my head into it. Maybe I’ll feel a bit different once I actually play it. Rounding out the...

Yeah, it’s been a few days since any updates. With my little one being off from school yesterday, it’s tough finding the time to sit here & work on the site. So I opted to put things aside & just spend some time with her (& do a little gaming). Now she’s back in school so let the writing begin! Bookmark It Hide Sites

Rock Band Restock 1/18-1/21

Rock Band Restock 1/18-1/21
*sigh* Is it sad that I look forward to the Rock Band & Guitar Hero music updates so much that I feel totally let down when I don’t see the artists I want to see? Don’t get me wrong, Tom Petty rocks. But, I’m itching for some more mainstream modern content (read: released in the last couple of years) so bad that I’m seriously bummed out when it’s not on the list. Especially in the case of Rock Band, where it seems like very week it’s the same bands over & over again. Ok, enough of my complaining. Next week will see a 6 track live set from Tom Petty, 2...

Well, it’s official. Netflix will now (finally?) be available on all three current generation platforms. According to this piece from the Associated Press, Wii owners will get the option to stream Netflix to their consoles beginning this spring. A couple of things to keep in mind though:  a) There won’t be a native dashboard user interface. It won’t be like the Xbox 360 version. Instead, subscribers will have to order a (free of charge) streaming disk just like the Playstation 3 owners.  b) The Wii doesn’t support HD, so anything you stream to the console will have to...

Crayon Physics is a small indie PC title that really deserves your attention. It’s a brilliant puzzler that will tax your brain, regardless of the kindergarten-esq visuals the crayons provide. The good folks at Kloonigames are celebrating the title’s 1st birthday by doing a “pay what you want” sale. That’s right, just head over here & pay any amount you feel is appropriate using PayPal. You can undercut them & only pay a penny, but seriously, this one is worth much more than that (regular price is $19.95). The sale is ongoing until Jan 15th, so you only have...

Best of 2009

Best of 2009
So, now that 2009 is coming to a close, it’s time for me to pick my favorite titles released over the last 12 months. Keep in mind that these are my personal picks. Although I did take into consideration things like sales figures, public opinion & feedback from friends & colleagues, the final decision’s primary factor was my personal experiences with each game. There, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I have to say that this was over all a very solid year for gaming in general. There have been many years in the past where I found myself having to go back & replay...

Rock Band Restock 12/29-01/05

Rock Band Restock 12/29-01/05
I missed last week’s announcement due to the holiday break I took, I’ll make up to you today with a double dose of Rock Band music goodness. First up, releasing this week (aka tomorrow on the 360 & the Wii; Sony will get everything next week) is the “exclusive” tracks that made gamers buy the retail Country Track Pack. As I’ve said in the past, I hope this isn’t a trend neither Harmonix, Neversoft, or any other music game developer embrace. I don’t want to buy a disk that has a bunch of music that I’ve already bought digitally just to get a handful...

Now, I was one of the few folks I knew back then that never got into the whole Pilotwings phenomenon. Even though it impressed with displaying the technical abilities of the N64, that was pretty much where it stopped for me. With that said, I may go back & give it a shot now that it’s been re-released on the Virtual Console. That will be after I grab what really has my eye: Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth. This remake of the GameBoy original has classic Dracula hunting love written all over it; perfect considering the dredge of titles the franchise has cranked out recently (I’m...

Nintendo has given us the gift that will keep on giving this week, albeit a gift we have to buy for ourselves. Yep, we can now relive our neighborhood brawls just like they were as children. No, I don’t mean go grab your old baseball bat. These are gamers, remember? The N64 fan favorite Super Smash Bros has now become available again by way of the Virtual Console. They didn’t forget about us older gamers who were adults by the time the N64 went retail, as the arcade original Ninja Gaiden is also available (yes, I played the original in the arcades). The DSi has a couple that caught...
