So, the rumors that started floating around the other day are true: Nintendo plans to release a new DSi with a bigger screen. Dubbed the DSi XL here in the States, it will carry a screen that’s 93% bigger than the current DSi. In Japan, it will retail for a bit more than the regular model, so I’m going to assume the cost increase will carry over in both North America & in Europe. You know, I’m pretty leery when I see trailers marked as leaked these days. Especially when we are so close to the launch of the game, such as the case here with Left 4 Dead 2. So, while I use the term “leaked” very loosely, the trailer itself is pretty cool. You get a better feel for the personalities of the survivors while also seeing all three levels of infected in action. Guitar Hero fans who are looking for a good deal got some great news yesterday. Activision is offering a free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen to those who purchase Guitar Hero 5. The interesting part is the dates make it appear that those who take advantage of this offer will get it before the street date. Another new Special Infected has been announced for Left 4 Dead 2. If you remember, Valve announced the Charger at E3. Now, we get the Spitter. This guy makes a hacking sound & then coughs up a ball of green phelgm. Once it hits the ground, it spreads & emits a gas that will slowly damage the survivors. EGOSOFT announced a new update today for X3: Terran Conflict. Update 2.1 will have the usual performance upgrades & bug fixes. But, what caught my eye on it was that it will also include a community developed mission. The new mission, titled Treasure Hunt, was developed by community user Ketaar. The description reads” Players will have to traverse across the greatest reaches of the X Universe looking for clues to lead them to the ultimate prize”. To create it, he used the X3 Mission Director plug in. For me, I love to see developers giving tools to the community to create missions or mods....

During the Microsoft Press Briefing for E3, a surprising trailer was shown that we didn’t realize was even in development, let alone would be shown at the conference. It took us a few seconds to realize it was a sequel to one of the best games released last year. Yes, Left 4 Dead 2 is coming our way this November! This is another one of the viral vids PopCap has been releasing to promo the release of Plant vs Zombies. I love them, they crack me up. D There are more of them on YouTube if you want to see the rest. I played through the timed demo today & had a blast. I highly recommend giving it a shot. It isn’t the Peggle killer, but it’s completely addicting! The game releases tomorrow on PC, with a possible console release sometime in the future (PopCap won’t say for sure if it is or isn’t coming to the home consoles).
