Playstation Store Refresh 03/04/10
I have a question for you: With the 3rd Episode of The Tester coming out this week, how many of you are watching the series? Just curious about what you think of it. Anyway, on to something better: Penny Arcade Adventures! Both Episode 1 & Episode 2 are now in a $15 bundle. That’s a great price so if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, then this is the perfect way to do so. Beyond that, it’s all about the stuff you already know. Demos for Just Cause 2, MLB 2K10, & MotoGP 09/10 & add-ons for Resident Evil 5, Dante’s Inferno & MLB 10: The Show… Bookmark...

Playstation Store Refresh 02/25/10
So lets take a look at what kinds of fresh baked gaming goodness Sony cooked up for us this week. First, Warhawk got a temporary price reduction. I know, it’s a pretty old game, but the gamers I talk to who play it still sing it’s praises, so for $15, it’s worth a shot. The God of War III demo is now available to the masses. Remember, it was previously only available to those who picked up the God of War Collection & just recently, subscribers to Sony’s Qore digital mag. Speaking of demos, THQ released one for Darksiders. It’s probably one of the most overlooked...

MLB 2K10 Shows Us Some ‘Stats & Splits’
As we enter the 7th inning stretch, the marketing blitz for MLB 2K10 is kicking into high gear. The demo released this week with the full title launching on March 2nd, so here’s a new trailer giving you a better idea of how robust the stat tracking is… Bookmark It Hide Sites

The demo for MLB 2K10 is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Queue it up here… Looks like Batman: Arkham Asylum pleased publisher Warner Bros quite a bit, as news broke the day before yesterday that they just became a majority stake holder in developer Rocksteady. I wonder if this has anything to do with SquareEnix getting phased out of the sequel?… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Playstation Store Refresh 02/18/10
Yeah, I don’t have a lot to say here. Not terribly impressed with any of it. Sure, there’s some decent sales & the first episode of The Tester is now available (Meh!) along with some DLC for Assassin’s Creed II & Resident Evil 5, but that’s about it. Hopefully next week brings some better goodies… Bookmark It Hide Sites

This week’s Playstation Store update has a lot of awesome sauce in it. First, you’ll find a Burnout Paradise bundle for a really good price as you can get the game & all the DLC for $30. Also, Trine has a 50% price reduction, available for only $10. It’s certainly worth it at that price. As for PSOne Classics, you can’t go wrong with Populous: The Beginning, which is one of the most loved “god-games” of all time. Rock Band see’s Megadeth’s Rust in Peace album hit the music store. Little Big Planet get’s some new Valentine’s Day themed...

EA Shows Us The Future

EA Shows Us The Future
EA released their 3rd Q Financial Report this afternoon. Typically these are full of a bunch of numbers that most of you won’t really care about. But, once you dig past that, sometimes you’ll find some interesting (& unannounced) information. First up, both APB & the new Medal of Honor title will launch this summer (read July, Aug, or Sept), with the MMO being PC only, but MoH reboot will be on the consoles, PC & the handhelds. The holidays will see Crysis 2 (for both consoles & PC), a new EA Sports Active title, the new Need For Speed game, NBA Jam, EA Sports MMA, a...

Dante’s Inferno Live Chat

Dante’s Inferno Live Chat
With Dante going to Hell tomorrow, there’s a lot of launch festivities planned for what was probably the most uniquely marketed game ever. For those out of the loop, Dante’s Inferno is an Action/Adventure game from EA’s Visceral Games based on part one of Dante Alighieri’s fourteenth-century poem, the Divine Comedy. It follows Dante’s quest to free his beloved from the Underworld. In the process, he’ll have to traverse the nine circles of Hell (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, Violence, Fraud & Treason), atoning for his past sins along the way....

Lego Star Wars Gets ‘Cloned’

Lego Star Wars Gets ‘Cloned’
The popular (& obscenely cute) Lego game franchise will be adding a 3rd title in it’s Star Wars series. Dubbed The Clone Wars, this new game will draw from the Cartoon Network series of the same name, boasting a better level editor, squad command & long distance Jedi attacks. You should see all the characters from the animated series making an appearance in the game along with “some fan-favourite characters from the beloved theatrical Star Wars Saga”. While I enjoy the franchise, it’s certainly a better experience for the younger crowd. I wonder why TT Games opted...

Sackboy Is A ‘Luvre’

Sackboy Is A ‘Luvre’
This week is celebrated as a week of all things love. With heart merchandising infecting every retail store before Santa could get back up the chimney, we’ve been besieged by chocolates, flowers & the color red at every turn. Valentines is a holiday that’s truly designed to make men everywhere feel guilty because they didn’t do enough for their significant other (I’m not jaded, am I?). Anyway, joining in the themed fray is Media Molecule’s user created platformer, Little Big Planet. Bookmark It Hide Sites

Apparently gamers who haven’t been able to upgrade to an HD display are have been having trouble reading the many lines of text in the recently launched Mass Effect 2. There’s even a thread about it in the official forums. Bioware’s response? Well, according to Mass Effect Project Manager Michael Gamble, “it was a byproduct of enhancements to the user interface” & they can’t address it with a patch, but will keep it in mind for their future Mass Effect titles. I wonder what they’ve done differently since this isn’t the first time this issue has...

Playstation Store Refresh 02/04/10
While there isn’t a lot here to be impressed with, Sony does have a few items that may catch your eye. First up, both Puzzle Quest & Madden NFL Arcade have a temporary price drop, from $15 to $10. The February issue of Qore is also available, sporting the demo of God of War III (for subscribers). Tecmo’s instrument-controller-enabled platformer Fret Nice is another one you might want to check out. Both the full game ($15) & the demo launched. Since I don’t have any instrument controllers for my Playstation 3, I’ll have to wait for the Xbox LIVE Arcade version to...

Sega Shows Us Their War Machine

Sega Shows Us Their War Machine
Iron Man 2 is set to hit theaters in couple of months & along with that will be the game adaption. We haven’t seen much of it so far, but today Sega released a new trailer introducing us to War Machine. Rhody, Tony Stark’s best friend (whom we saw in the first film) is the man behind the machine who provides some much needed assistance to our tin hero. But, after checking out the trailer below, I can’t help but feel a little concern. Is it just me or does it look like it’s plagued with a “more of the same” sickness? The first game was okay, but forgettable....

Lego Harry Potter Year 2 Screens & Vignette

Lego Harry Potter Year 2 Screens & Vignette
I’m kiind of schizophrenic when it comes to the Lego games. While I’m really into the general idea & so far, I have enjoyed what little bit I’ve played of them, there’s still just something about them that pushes me away. It seems like every time I sit down to play one, my session may last an hour at best. Then, I just get distracted & won’t pick it up again for weeks (sometimes months). I still can’t figure out what it is that I makes me lose interest. As a fan of the Harry Potter books (especially before the entire planet went bat-shit crazy over them),...

2009’s Top PSN Downloads

2009’s Top PSN Downloads
Microsoft announced their top Xbox LIVE activity for 2009 about a week ago so it’s only fitting Sony shows us their top downloads. While we don’t get to see what games were the most active online, we do get to see what Playstation 3 players are downloading as far as games are concerned. The list itself didn’t hold any real surprises for me, with Call of Duty: World at War dominating the top 3 spots with their map packs. Final Fantasy VII, commonly viewed as the best game in the franchise, took the 5th spot with it’s Summer 2009 re-release for both the PSP & the Playstation...

Did Monsters Steal Your Princess?

Did Monsters Steal Your Princess?
Personally, I’m a fan of the PSP Mini’s concept. Similar to Microsoft’s Indie & Arcade services, Mini’s offers smaller scale downloadable games for Sony’s portable system (some also support play on the Playstation 3 as well). This provides opportunities for smaller development teams to showcase their talents without having to drop millions of dollars into it. Not only do the consumers get inexpensive titles to play with, but developers can cut their teeth a bit & get the exposure they need. To me, these are the folks that will be making the next Call of Duty,...
