Holiday Gift Guide – RPGs

Holiday Gift Guide – RPGs
To be honest, not a lot of RPGs caught my attention this year. There have been a couple of stand-outs along with one RPG/FPS hybrid, but that’s about it. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “RPG”, it’s short for Role Playing Game. These games, which originate from table-top games like Dungeons & Dragons, allow for the player to immerse themselves in a role they create. With the focus on story driven character development, RPGs typically have robust character creators to allow you to choose anything & everything, from eye color to character class to the even...

The Return!

The Return!
I’m sorry & thank you……………… I know, that’s a bit of an abrupt way to begin my first post in a month. In fact, I’ve been thinking about this piece for the last 4 days, trying to figure out exactly what to say. I had many ideas, but only those 5 words really stuck out & actually meant anything to me. I wanted to apologize to everyone. Even though I understand that I can’t completly own everything that has happened, I still felt throughout the last 4 weeks that I let a lot of people down. The readership on this site was expanding...

Disney Buys Marvel

Disney Buys Marvel
I woke up to news this morning that Disney had purchased Marvel Entertainment for 4 billion in cash & stock. That definitely came out of left field for me as I didn’t realize Marvel was on the market. The deal would put Disney as the owner of the entire Marvel portfolio, which amounts to over 5000 characters. At this point, the brands appear to be maintained as separate entities. Who knows how things will play out in 5 or 10 years. In specific reference to video games, current development deals such as the ones with Activision, Sega, THQ & Gazillion Entertainment will stay in place...

Planet Hulk Trailer

February 2010 can’t get here fast enough. I loved the Planet Hulk storyline. Probably one of Hulks best arcs in many years. Now, to have it in animated form, I’m really excited. If you haven’t read the books, pick up the trade paperbacks below from Amazon… Bookmark It Hide Sites

Two New Prince Of Persia Images

Two New Prince Of Persia Images
You know, I disagree with all the grumblings about Prince of Persia. A lot of people I know have panned it already. First, with Jerry Bruckeimer directing & then the casting of Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, a ton of folk I know said Sands of Time would flop. Personally, I’m seeing a National Treasure kind of success here. The more pics I see, the stronger I feel that way. I know that Gyllenhall isn’t on the top of everyone’s list, but I think the casting is perfect. He’s a fairly underated performer. Don’t forget, he was on tap to replace Toby Maguire in Spider-Man...

Animal Crossing: City Folk DLC (Pikman Edition) should be available for free for the next week or so… Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is expanding again this fall. Tron Legacy Comic-Con Trailer

Tron Legacy Comic-Con Trailer
Wow, I can’t believe they may actually pull it off! I admit, I had my doubts about the now long in development Tron sequel. I just didn’t think Disney could pull off the same magic that the first movie had. I was anticipating another garbage sequel made to rehash an old license that should have been left alone. Now, I’m beginning to change my mind. Apparently the long development time has paid off. Watch this trailer & you tell me, will it be just as good as the first Tron film? Can you imaging the merchandising tie-ins with this one? I want my Tron Legacy t-shirt & video...

Halo Legends Debut Trailer

Halo Legends Debut Trailer
So, yesterday I told you about Microsoft’s 343 Studios & their upcoming compilation of anime short films based in the Halo universe.ow, GameTrailers has the official debut trailer that was shown last night on their show. I was a bit leery about this since I’m not an anime fan, but after seeing the trailer, I can say that I’m now interested in Halo Legends. Let me know what you think in the comments. I’m curious how you guys feel about Halo branching into anime (especially since the movie is still in development hell)… Bookmark It Hide...

Alice In Wonderland Posters (& Trailer!)

Alice In Wonderland Posters (& Trailer!)
Through the Looking Glass is probably one of the best pieces for source material for a director like Tim Burton. The interpretation can go in so many directions & is well suited for the dark style that Burton has. I was pretty excited to find out he was adapting it. Once I found out that Johnny Depp was cast as the Mad Hatter (man, he’s come a long way from 21 Jump Street, hasn’t he?), I was sold instantly. Now, it’s just the waiting game as new items are trickled out to build the hype leading up to the March 5th release date. ComicCon attendees are in for a treat as the first...

Sherlock Holmes Trailer #2

Sherlock Holmes Trailer #2
I don’t know about the rest of you, but the more I see of this film, the more excited I get. I know that a lot of you aren’t fans of Guy Ritchie, but I’m cetainly giving this one the benefit of the doubt. I don’t know what it is exactly, I think it may just be the humor & swagger that Robert Downey Jr brings to the character. Trailer #2 doesn’t give us a whole lot of new stuff when compared to the first one, but you will see some new bits if you pay attention. If you missed the first trailer, I have it here, but keep in mind the presentation isn’t real good...

Amadala & Thor, Sitting In A Tree…

Amadala & Thor, Sitting In A Tree…
Yeah, yeah, I know, the title is a bit corny. But trust me, when you write all day, even the little things bring out the laughter. Anyway, it was announced this morning who will play the love interest in Marvel Comic’s upcoming Thor film (which is being helmed by Kenneth Branagh). Natalie Portman, best known for playing Princess Leia & Luke Skywalker’s mom in the Star Wars saga, has been cast as Jane Foster. For those not familiar with the comics, Foster was a nurse who also was Thor’s first main squeeze. Of course, they will update the character for the film. Our hero will...

Remo Williams fans will be pleased to know that RemoWilliams: The Destroyer is in process. The plot will follow a New Jersey cop convited of a crime he didn’t commit. Depp Is Mad! (Hatter)

Alice in Wonderland is the perfect source material for Tim Burton’s film making style. It can be dark, twisted & gothic, just the way he likes them. When I heard that Johnny Depp was playing the Mad Hatter, I almost fell over. For me, especially after Depp’s Jack Sparrow performance in the Pirates franchise, this was perfect casting. Well, here is what he will look like in the film. Let me know what you think. Should Burton have gone with someone else? Bookmark It Hide Sites

The First Sherlock Holmes Trailer

I must admit, when I first heard about this film, I had my doubts. I just couldn’t picture Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes. After seeing the trailer though, if the film is as good as it looks, I will never doubt Downey again. Ever. Technorati Tags: Sherlock Holmes,Robert Downey Jr,Guy Ritchie Bookmark It Hide Sites
