‘Fright Night’ Remake….Really?

My first thought when I heard about this was ‘Why?’. Now that I’ve looking a little more into it, I guess I understand. Fright Night was (released in 1985) was about a student who find out his next door neighbor is a vampire. He then enlists the help of a b-movie marathon host to deal with the vampire. At the time, I liked it as it was a comedy/horror film, which was big back in the 80’s. I was 10 years old then. Now, I’m not so sure I would feel the same. Apparently the film was successful as it spawned a sequel & a bunch of merchandise sale. The original was made for 9 million dollars...

‘Cliffhanger’ Hangs Again

Sylvester Stallone released a film back in 1993 called Cliffhanger. The film centered on his character (who is a climbing expert) being forced to assist a group of hijackers who need to get to the top of a mountain to retrieve a briefcase that contains 100 million dollars. It was financially successful, bringing in a total of $255 million at the box office. Bookmark It Hide Sites

Gamer Movie Trailer

I caught this on Xbox Live either last night or the night before. Looks pretty cool. Lets see how the script holds up. Usually movies like this look cool, but the script is terrible. It stars Gerard Butler (300), Alison Lohman (Beowulf, Drag Me To Hell), & Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Rocky Balboa). Let me know what you think in the comments… Technorati Tags: Gamer,Theatrical Trailer,Gerard Butler,Alison Lohman,Milo Ventimiglia Bookmark It Hide Sites

The new Star Trek film has had a fantastic opening weekend, bringing in $72.5 million on approximately 7,400 screens. I’m guessing a sequel is pretty much a lock. Keanu Reeves is attached to star in a contemporary retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde for Universal Pictures. Bookmark It Hide Sites

Some Prince Of Persia Film Footage

At first, I was a bit leery about seeing the prince go to the big screen. The entire hitch of the series is the time manipulation aspect, which I felt would be gimmicky at best on the big screen. We have yet to see an official trailer, but we are getting a small taste in the below (Jerry) Bruckheimer interview. Sadly, still no info on how the time travel will be presented (if at all), but it does look pretty cool. The film doesn’t come out until Summer 2010, so it’s still pretty early. I’m still interested in seeing more. How about you guys? Bookmark It Hide...

G.I. Joe HD Theatrical Movie Trailer

I was a bit concerned that with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, we were going to get another forced attempt to take a fantastic toy license & shoe-horn it into a movie franchise. Now, I’m not convinced that this isn’t still the case, but after seeing the trailer, I don’t know that I care anymore. This movie looks like a wild ride with enough going on in it that I’ll be able to overlook any potential script/acting issues. Bookmark It Hide Sites

Universal Wants Fred To ‘Drop Dead’ Again

I would ask if anyone remembers Universal’s 1991 comedy Drop Dead Fred, but my memory-challenged wife already answered that. All it took was one glance at the above banner as I was making it & she blurted out ”Oh, Drop Dead Fred! I loved that movie!”. I’m assuming this reaction is the primary reason Universal decided to resurrect the film. Bookmark It Hide Sites

Even though ABC hasn’t officially ordered the series, they plan to start marketing Flash Forward during the 100th episode of Lost. Richard Dreyfuss will cameo and Ving Rhames will star in Dimension Films’ horror-thriller remake Piranha 3D. Green Lantern Movie Nets Director And $150 Million

Some new info on the long talked about Green Lantern film. At first, it was looking like a throw-away film, maybe a direct-to-DVD title. But now, it looks like it will be a serious tent pole contender. Looks like Warner Bros will be dropping a cool $150 million into it. In addition to that, they’ve hired Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale, to direct it. I didn’t see anything about a production schedule, but it does look like they will take their money & invest it overseas as Sydney, Australia will be the shooting location. No word on casting yet either. Technorati Tags: Green Lantern...

Little Shop Of Horrors……Again!

The original Little Shop of Horrors was produced by famed film-maker Roger Corman & released in 1960. It garnered enough of a cult following that it was remade in 1986. That version was directed by Frank Oz & based mostly on the Ashman/Menken off-Broadway musical version. Now, it is looking like we will get another remake. According to Shock Til You Drop, Declan O’Brien ("Wrong Turn 3") has optioned the rights for a new version. But, O’Brien’s take will be different again – "I have a take on it you’re not going to expect. I’m taking...

Movie Review: Changeling

So, I made a deal with my wife tonight. She picks the genre, I’ll pick the movie. She watched Untraceable this morning so she said she wanted a crime drama similar to that. As I had not seen it, I had no idea what she was talking about. So, after running an IMDB search for crime dramas, I decided on Changeling. First, it’s directed by Clint Eastwood, whom I have respected as a director since Million Dollar Baby. I love watching Angelina Jolie on screen, which is what made me choose it to begin with. Though my motives were a bit shallow, I’m glad I chose it as I ended up learning about a very...
